As the world fights against global warming and we seek to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, Montpellier Métropole remains committed to the energy transition and renewable energies.
After witnessing the emergence of the industry's pioneering companies thirty years ago, the region, which benefits from a powerful ecosystem, is now home to the head offices of several major groups in the renewable energy sector such as: QAIR, EDF RENOUVELABLES, TOTAL ENERGIES, ENGIE GREEN, and SLB.
In addition to their ongoing support for Creative and Cultural Industries (CCI) and MedVallée sectors, metropolitan authorities today are actively involved in supporting and developing renewable energies, including biomass, wood, biofuels, biogas, wind energy, marine energies, geothermal energy, hydroelectricity, heat pumps, photovoltaic solar energy, thermal solar energy, and thermodynamic solar energy.
The first Renewable Energies Conference (Rencontre des ENR), held on June 20, 2024 as an initiative of Montpellier Metropole, offered an opportunity for more than a hundred renewable energy industry stakeholders to exchange ideas on a future renewable energy cluster.
Montpellier Métropole launched MedVallée, an excellence hub for global health, uniting the area’s three major excellence sectors: food/agronomy/agriculture, environment, and health. MedVallée unites researchers, academics, business stakeholders, entrepreneurs, institutions, and the general public, with the support of its co-founders. MedVallée is led jointly by Montpellier Métropole, the Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée Region, and the French government.
Pour impulser une dynamique de cluster, et devenir incontournable dans la décarbonation des énergies, la Métropole de Montpellier a tenu ses Premières Rencontres des ENR, le 20 juin à la Halle de l’Innovation, en présence de 150 professionnels.
