CAP 2030, A NEW ECONOMIC STRATEGY
BUILDING TOMORROW’S METROPOLIS TOGETHER
Our vision is to strengthen attractiveness, economic development, and employment, while enhancing the region's image, reducing inequalities, and unleashing energies and talents.
Given today's economic context, the challenges related to transition, and inherent competition between regions, Montpellier Métropole has elaborated a roadmap for economic development leading up to 2030. This roadmap was presented to economic players on November 17, 2023.
AN ACTION PLAN BASED ON 5 PRIORITIES
Montpellier Metropole has identified three major orientations for economic development: developing sustainable and inclusive employment, promoting sustainable and responsible business growth, and anticipating and developing the economy of tomorrow.
These priorities are reflected in 5 strategic axes.
Together, they comprise the CAP 2030 strategy.
WHY DO WE NEED A ROADMAP?
What's the region's current situation in terms of economic development? What are its strengths and weaknesses? What are Montpellier Métropole's plans for the coming decade?
In order to define tomorrow's metropolis, we first carried out a territorial analysis, which identified the region’s strengths in terms of economic development and helped us confirm overall goals and ambitions.
With a number of strong assets at its disposal, the region’s brand image in terms of innovation and entrepreneurship is solid, and its determination to address the challenges of planning and economic development in a more sustainable, responsible, and balanced manner throughout the region is well recognized. However, there are some constraints that could slow down progress: limited budgetary flexibility (as is typically the case for local authorities) and the need to find new balance in an era of increasing scarcity.

“If “Montpellier, the Gifted” is back, it must work to write its future! But can we afford to rest on our past achievements? Shouldn’t we take the risk of continuing to shape the future?
We need to establish a roadmap for the next fifteen years, so that we can continue to proclaim that Montpellier is an innovative, inspiring, radiant, and attractive territory, and that those who create businesses here are supported wholeheartedly.”
