Ecofilae, creating solutions to reduce your water impact

Montpellier-based Ecofilae is developing an innovative approach to help local authorities, businesses, and farms minimize, recycle, and reuse water. The company celebrated its 15th anniversary on September 12.

A pioneer for water recycling in France! With its headquarters in Montpellier, Ecofilae has been developing custom solutions to help clients reduce their water footprint since it was founded in 2009. In fact, the company, which benefited from assistance provided by Montpellier BIC in its early days, has become France’s leading provider of treated wastewater reuse services in a market segment it helped to create.

Founded by its CEO, Nicolas Condom, an agricultural engineer and recognized expert in wastewater reuse, the company, which celebrated its 15th anniversary on September 12, is entering a new phase in its development. “We are now focusing on international markets,” he confirms.

Ecofilae has a staff of 21 employees, most of whom are expert engineers, and works throughout France, where it has already carried out at least 180 studies. Its customers include local authorities, industry, agriculture, the construction sector, leisure and sports facilities, campgrounds and amusement parks, golf courses, race tracks, and more, with expertise ranging from preliminary studies to day-to-day operational system management.

Ecofilae’s business activity is growing exponentially, given that water resources are at the heart of the global challenges posed by climate change. To support its growth, the company opened a new office in 2023 in France’s Nouvelle-Aquitaine region as part of the public interest group GIP Agrolandes in Mont-de-Marsan (Landes department), and a branch in Nantes (Loire-Atlantique department) this year.

In perfect harmony with the Montpellier metropolitan area’s MedVallée dynamism, the company’s global approach is proving to be a resounding success. One example is the Rureaux project in Saint-Jean-de-Cornies (Hérault department), which perfectly illustrates the Ecofilae approach. With this project, Ecofilae has created a truly multi-technology, connected, and collaborative demonstration site, which has become a French benchmark for the circular economy for water in rural areas, by bringing together the town, Chamber of Agriculture, research organizations such as IRSTEA and the European Membrane Institute at the University of Montpellier, as well as companies such as Montpellier Engineering, a BIC alumni, and Syntea.

Laureate of the Cleantech competition and a COP21 ambassador, Ecofilae is a genuine talent in MedVallée, the worldwide hub for excellence in Global Health.
